Jamie Bristow is director of the world's first policy institute about mindfulness, which grew out of a program of mindfulness teaching in the British Parliament. The Mindfulness Initiative provides the secretariat to the UK Mindfulness All-Party Parliamentary Group and helped politicians to publish the seminal Mindful Nation UK policy report. Jamie now works with politicians around the world to help them make capacities of heart and mind serious considerations of public policy.

Yi-Yuan Tang

The Neuroscience of Mindfulness Meditation: How the Body and Mind Work Together to Change Our Behavior

Dr. Yi-Yuan Tang is a Presidential Endowed Chair in Neuroscience and Professor of Psychological Sciences and Internal Medicine at Texas Tech University. He studies the neuroscience of attention, creativity, decision-making, learning, emotion, self-control and body-mind interaction using psychosocial, physiological, neuroimaging, mental training and genetic analysis. He has developed a novel mindfulness-based preventive intervention – Integrative Body-Mind Training (IBMT) and has studied its mechanisms and effects in large randomized clinical trials in healthy and patient populations since 1990s. He has published 8 books, including Brain-Based Learning and Education: Principles and Practice and The Neuroscience of Mindfulness Meditation: How the Body and Mind Work Together to Change Our Behaviour, and more than 290 peer-reviewed articles including Nature Reviews Neuroscience, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Trends in Cognitive Sciences, Psychiatry Research, and Stress and Health, which have been reported in scientific journals and popular media such as TIME, New York Times, BBC, and NPR.

In this session, Yi-Yuan will cover:

Caroline Welch

How Leaders Can Move from Chaos to Calm in Work and Life

Caroline is CEO of Mind Your Brain, Inc. and co-founder with Dr. Daniel Siegel of the Mindsight Institute, whose mission is to make the latest neuroscience accessible for professional and personal development through online and in-person programs. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School and holds a Master’s degree in Communications from the University of Southern California.
