Viveka Chen
The Leadership of Undoing Bias from the Inside out
As Chairwoman of the San Francisco Buddhist Center, Viveka has overall responsibility for the Center, particularly fostering a sense of community and maintaining the spiritual integrity of the situation. She is also a facilitator and on the Steering Committee of the Triratna's International Council of 50 order members from around the world meeting to promote connection and development across our tradition.
Ordained into the Triratna Buddhist Order in 1997, Viveka teaches Buddhism and meditation and leads retreats at the San Francisco Buddhist Center and internationally. She has a deep love for meditation and has meditated for over 20 years. She actively develops emerging teachers and Triratna's teaching movement-wide. As private preceptor, Viveka mentors and trains individuals for ordination.
Viveka is also a certified coach and a facilitator and nonprofit consultant working for 20 years for social justice as an integral expression of her dharma practice. She is a co-founder of Coaching for Justice.
Viveka is on the planning team for a 2013 Generation X cross-tradition Buddhist teacher's conference and the steering committee planning the 2015 Maha-Buddhist Teachers conference aiming to gather 400 teachers of Buddha-Dharma across the wide range of traditions. Viveka is engaged in outreach efforts making Buddhist teachings and meditation available to activists and people of color collaborating with other Buddhist traditions and social change organizations.
Her writing appears in Dharma Culture and Color: New Voices in Western Buddhism, The Buddha's Apprentices: More Voices of Young Buddhists and Record of the Hidden Lamp: 100 Koans and Stories from 25 Centuries of Awakened Women (to be published in 2013)

Leadership Vision, Children and the Mindfulness Multiplier Effect
Rose Felix Pavlov is the Founder & CEO of Ivy Child International, a non-profit that develops and facilitates mindfulness based health education programs for children and communities from across the globe. As a life long meditator and child specialist, her research interests range from applied positive psychology and mindfulness based learning with children/youth to international issues such as overcoming devastation and trauma, as well as urban challenges. Her professional experiences have led her to partnerships with UNICEF and World Vision. The Worcester Business Journal honored Rose as one of the “40 Under 40 Rising Stars” in Central Massachusetts in 2010, 2011 "Young Leaders pioneering global social change," "Top 12 People Making a Difference in Central Massachusetts" in 2012 and named "Women Leading In Central Massachusetts" in 2013/2014 and a featured TEDx speaker on "Unlocking Children's Potential Through Mindfulness."

Michael Sandler

Kaira Jewel Lingo
Leading with Wisdom, Relaxation and Joy
Kaira Jewel (formerly Sr. Jewel) is from the US and has been practicing mindfulness and Buddhist meditation since 1997. She was ordained as a nun by Thich Nhat Hanh in 1999 and as a Dharma teacher in 2007. She returned to secular life in 2015 and continues as a lay Buddhist teacher and mindfulness teacher. Before ordaining, she graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. and M.A. in Anthropology and Social Sciences. She has led mindfulness retreats in the U.S., Europe, Asia, Brazil, India and Southern Africa. She spends much of her time sharing mindfulness and compassion, especially with children, families and young people, and bringing mindfulness to teachers and schools. She is editor of Planting Seeds: Practicing Mindfulness with Children by Thich Nhat Hanh. She is passionate about exploring the ways art, play and spiritual practice connect. She leads mindfulness courses for artists and has a background in dance and improvisation. She is also a certified Yoga Teacher and InterPlay leader.
