Dr. Siegel is a clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine and the founding co-director of the Mindful Awareness Research Center at UCLA. An award-winning educator, he is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and recipient of several honorary fellowships. Dr. Siegel is also the Executive Director of the Mindsight Institute, an educational organization, which offers online learning and in-person lectures that focus on how the development of mindsight in individuals, families and communities can be enhanced by examining the interface of human relationships and basic biological processes. His psychotherapy practice includes children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. He serves as the Medical Director of the LifeSpan Learning Institute and on the Advisory Board of the Blue School in New York City, which has built its curriculum around Dr. Siegel’s Mindsight approach.

Dr. Siegel’s book, Mindsight: The New Science of Personal Transformation (Bantam, 2010), offers the general reader an in-depth exploration of the power of the mind to integrate the brain and promote well-being. Jonathan earned his BA at Hamilton College in 1981 and his Ph.D. at the University of Washington in 1987. He joined the psychology faculty of the University of Pittsburgh as an assistant professor that same year and became a research scientist at Pittsburgh's Learning Research and Development Center. Named a full professor in 2001, he moved on to the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 2004 as professor of psychology, Canada Research Chair in Social Cognitive Science, and senior investigator at UBC's Brain Research Centre. In 2007 he joined the faculty at UCSB. Jonathan pursues research on consciousness, memory, the relationship between language and thought, problem-solving, and decision-making. He is particularly interested in exploring phenomena that intersect between the empirical and the philosophical such as how fluctuations in people’s awareness of their experience mediate mind-wandering and how exposing individuals to philosophical positions alters their behavior. A fellow of the Association for Psychological Science, he was also an Osher Fellow at the Exploratorium Science Museum in San Francisco. His work has been supported by the National Institute of Mental Health, the Unilever Corporation, the Center for Consciousness Studies, the Office of Educational Research, the Canada Foundation for Innovation, Canada's Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, the National Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, the Canadian Institute for Health Research, the Bial Foundation, and the Bower Foundation. He currently is on the editorial boards of Consciousness and Cognition and Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience. Dr. Schooler is the author or co-author of more than one hundred papers published in scientific journals or edited volumes and was the editor (with J.C. Cohen) of Scientific Approaches to Consciousness, which was published in 1997 by Lawrence Erlbaum.

Dan Harris is  co-anchor of both Nightline and the weekend edition of Good Morning America on ABC News. Before that, he was the anchor of the Sunday edition of World News. Jessica Morey, is the Executive Director of iBme. She began practicing meditation at age 14 on teen retreats offered by the Insight Meditation Society (IMS).

She returned every year for 6 years and then participated for 10 years in an IMS young adult mentoring group. Jessica has attended longer retreats (1-3 months) in Asia and the U.S., and is a founding board member and lead teacher for iBme teen retreats.

Tere came from Mexico City 14 years ago with her three young children and late husband where she learned Tibetan Buddhism and practiced meditation. Here she became Trudy Goodman's student which complemented her Catholic upbringing and her husband's Jewish heritage, broadening her capacity for understanding and compassion for others. Inspired to help, she left behind both her MBA and also her geographer BS degrees to devote herself to her family, her personal growth and the study and practice of mindfulness. She became a dedicated practitioner at InsightLA before joining the Teacher Development Program. She graduated from Spirit Rock's Community Dharma Leadership program as well as the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Practicum, and other diverse mindfulness programs like The Fearless Compassionate Care Training, etc. She is also a Cultivating Emotional Balance certified teacher. Her self-inquiry search through psychoanalysis has strengthen her mindfulness journey as well as her creativity as a visual artist. Her main interest is to bring mindfulness to spanish-speaking communities throughout Los Angeles. Diana Winston is the Director of Mindfulness Education at UCLA's Mindful Awareness Research Center (MARC) and the co-author, with Susan Smalley PhD, of Fully Present, the Science, Art and Practice of Mindfulness. She has taught mindfulness for health and well-being since 1993 in a variety of settings including hospitals, universities, corporations, non-profits, and schools in the US and Asia. Judson Brewer, M.D. Ph.D., is a thought leader in the field of habit change and the “science of self-mastery”, having combined nearly 20 years of experience with mindfulness training with his scientific research therein. As Chairwoman of the San Francisco Buddhist Center, Viveka has overall responsibility for the Center, particularly fostering a sense of community and maintaining the spiritual integrity of the situation. She is also a facilitator and on the Steering Committee of the Triratna's International Council of 50 order members from around the world meeting to promote connection and development across our tradition.

Ordained into the Triratna Buddhist Order in 1997, Viveka teaches Buddhism and meditation and leads retreats at the San Francisco Buddhist Center and internationally. She has a deep love for meditation and has meditated for over 20 years. She actively develops emerging teachers and Triratna's teaching movement-wide. As private preceptor, Viveka mentors and trains individuals for ordination.

Viveka is also a certified coach and a facilitator and nonprofit consultant working for 20 years for social justice as an integral expression of her dharma practice. She is a co-founder of Coaching for Justice.

Viveka is on the planning team for a 2013 Generation X cross-tradition Buddhist teacher's conference and the steering committee planning the 2015 Maha-Buddhist Teachers conference aiming to gather 400 teachers of Buddha-Dharma across the wide range of traditions. Viveka is engaged in outreach efforts making Buddhist teachings and meditation available to activists and people of color collaborating with other Buddhist traditions and social change organizations.

Her writing appears in Dharma Culture and Color: New Voices in Western Buddhism, The Buddha's Apprentices: More Voices of Young Buddhists and Record of the Hidden Lamp: 100 Koans and Stories from 25 Centuries of Awakened Women (to be published in 2013).

Jacqueline has over 20 years of experience working with organizations to enhance effectiveness and improve performance. She is also a long-standing mindfulness practitioner and a Partner and the North American Director for Potential Project – a leading global provider of corporate based mindfulness solutions. 

She works with forward thinking organizations to improve focus, clarity, and results through training the mind. Her clients include: Cisco, Accenture, Google, LVMH, KPMG and the Royal Bank of Canada to name a few. Jacqueline is coauthor of “One Second Ahead – Enhance Your Performance at Work with Mindfulness” published by Palgrave Macmillan in November 2015. She is currently working on a mindful leadership book in partnership with Harvard Business Press that will be published in March 2018. 

Jacqueline holds a master’s degree in organizational behavior and worked with Deloitte consulting for many years in their Change Leadership Practice. Jacqueline has lived and worked in Canada, the United States, Australia and Singapore.

Kelley McCabe Ruff is the founder of eMindful, Inc., a leading provider of transformative, evidence-based programs targeting improving health and changing participants’ lives for the better. Larry Ward, director of the Lotus Institute, is a dharma teacher ordained by Thich Nhat Hanh. In his book, Love's Garden, coauthored by his wife, Peggy Rowe, he teaches how to use the practice of mindfulness to navigate the difficulties in relationships and uncover one's own innate wisdom and courage to create a loving partnership.

Deeply inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Larry Ward has spent his life committed to nonviolent social change, healing, and transformation on a global level. In his capacity as International Director of the Institute of Cultural Affairs, he served in leadership programs in 35 countries engaged in socio-economic development projects in urban and rural areas.

Ordained as a Christian minister in 1972, Ward received the Dharma teacher transmission in 2000 from Thich Nhat Hanh. A leading proponent of engaged Buddhism in the United States, and a valued advisor to his teacher Thich Nhat Hanh, Ward leads retreats in mindfulness and Engaged Buddhism internationally. 

Larry Ward has founded and led sanghas and congregations throughout the United States, where he provides pastoral care, counseling, and mentors students and Zen priests in the Order of Inter-Being.
